Adam & Lucy’s Gorgeous Farm Wedding in Moffat, Scotland – Laughter, Love & a Bit of Rounders!

Every once in a while, you get to be a part of a wedding that feels so perfectly “them” – and that was exactly the vibe for Adam & Lucy’s special day.

Funny enough, Adam’s dad lives in the same village as my mum! Despite that small-world connection, the first time I actually met Adam and Lucy was when they brought in their newborn son for a photoshoot, just a few days after he was born. It was one of those beautiful moments where I got to witness the start of their family journey, and, honestly, watching them grow since then has been such a privilege. One of the best parts of being a candid wedding photographer is following my clients through all their big milestones – from newborn shoots to the biggest day of their lives. It’s honestly the best part of my job!

The Big Day in Moffat: From the Town to the Farm

Fast forward to their wedding day – and what a day it was! Adam and Lucy tied the knot in their hometown of Moffat, and the charm of this Scottish town set the perfect backdrop. Lucy got ready at the stunning Moffat House, surrounded by her closest friends and family. There were laughs, a few pre-wedding nerves, and loads of excitement. But one of my favourite parts of the morning? When Lucy, her dad, and her bridesmaids walked through the town to the church. Picture this: a stunning bride, arm in arm with her dad, and all the locals smiling, waving, and cheering her on. It was like a real-life fairy tale moment, with the whole town joining in the celebration!

After a beautiful ceremony, it was back to Adam and Lucy’s newly acquired Cattle & Venison farm – and wow, they had truly made it their own. All week, friends and family had been pitching in to clear out a barn, which, up until a few days before the wedding, still had deer in it! You would’ve never known though – the space was transformed into a gorgeous venue, complete with rustic benches and trestle tables arranged in a large square. It was so beautifully simple, with flowers picked from around the farm and hedgerows the day before. Honestly, it was one of the most charming, DIY setups I’ve ever seen!

A BBQ Wedding Breakfast & Games Galore

As a farm wedding photographer, I’ve seen a lot of unique wedding setups, but Adam and Lucy’s had such a laid-back, fun energy. They opted for a BBQ-style wedding breakfast, which fit perfectly with the relaxed, family-friendly vibe of the day. Oh, and there was an ice cream cart! Honestly, yum.

One of my absolute favourite parts of their wedding was what came after the food – Adam and Lucy invited all their guests out for a game of rounders! Yes, you read that right. The bride and groom picked their teams, and before we knew it, everyone was laughing and running around the field. If you’re looking for a fun and inexpensive way to entertain your guests, trust me, this is the way to do it. There’s something about a little friendly competition that just brings people together – even in wedding attire!

Dancing in the Rain & Nail-Hammering Fun

As the evening rolled in and it started to get a bit chilly (you know, typical British weather), everyone made their way up the hill to Adam and Lucy’s farmhouse, just a short walk from the main farm. Lucy’s dad whipped out his DJ decks, and the courtyard was instantly filled with music, dancing, and laughter. Even when the rain started to fall, no one seemed to mind. In fact, it only added to the fun – rain or shine, this group was determined to party!

And then, there was the game of “nails” – which, if you’ve never heard of it before (I hadn’t!), is an absolute blast. The idea is simple: everyone takes turns hammering nails into a block of wood, and the first person to get their nail in wins. It’s another inexpensive and super fun way to keep guests entertained – and trust me, it got pretty competitive!

A Wedding to Remember

dam and Lucy’s day was the perfect mix of love, fun, and family. From their charming walk through Moffat town to the heartfelt ceremony and their incredible farm celebration, it was a day that truly reflected them. I feel so lucky to have been a part of their journey – from that first newborn photoshoot to this incredible wedding. It was one of those weddings that reminded me just how special it is to be a UK wedding photographer – getting to capture these moments that will be treasured forever.

So, if you’re dreaming of a relaxed, DIY-style farm wedding, take a leaf out of Adam and Lucy’s book! Their day was all about love, family, and having fun – and isn’t that what it’s all about in the end?
